Within Clinical Templates there are many different 'Field Types' that are located on the left hand side of the 'Template Editor' screen. To add any fields to the template click and drag it from the left hand side to the correct position on the template.
This article will explain the different properties available for the 'Options' field. When it has been added to the template a menu will appear on the left hand side of the screen which you can see in the image below. You are able to set up different properties against this field.
Name - Putting a name here gives the Option field a title on the template. Names in field types also relate to the Group Field Type.
Required - Switching this option on will make this a mandatory selection within the template.
Show Inline - Switching this option on will control if the Option values will display on the same line as other text.
Multi-Select - If you turn this option on then you are able to select more than one option from your lookup list.
Display as list - If you turn this option on then the options will appear in list format.
Allow 'Other' option - This is where you set whether you want 'other' to appear in the lookup list. There are 3 options to choose from which will be explained later in this article.
Options List - You can set up an options list by entering your own values under 'list' or by selecting a 'lookup.' The lookup you select will be normal TM3 lookups and not clinical lookups.
Key Question - This field allows for advanced reporting.
Create Flag - If this is on, a flag will be triggered when selecting your option.
Reporting - This option allows the Option field to pull information directly from the database.
Allow "Other" option
When the Allow "Other" option is clicked the following options will appear. If 'Not Allowed' is clicked then there will be no option to choose 'Other.' If 'Allowed' is chosen then you are able to choose 'Other' and if 'Allowed with Explanation' is picked then you are able to click 'Other' from the list but you will be required to enter an explanation.
You can select options from your own list or from a lookup within TM3. To set these up you toggle between 'list' and 'lookup.' If you click on 'list' then you are able to free type in your own value and then click the 'plus' button to add more which you can see in the image below.
If you click on 'lookup' then the TM3 lookup list which is set up under custom lists in configuration settings appears which you can see in the following image.
When the 'Create Flag' option is turned on you are presented with the screen below. You can choose when value 'is' or when value 'isn't'. Values are populated based on the list you have created yourself or based on the lookup value you have chosen.
You then select the flag that you want to be triggered when the option is selected.
